The IFAB in Albacete, venue for the final of the first Drone Racing League

The IFAB facilities in Albacete will host on November 22 and 23 the final of the first league of individual and team drone racing, called “Gaelic Gp Liga Pro-Teams”. This is an event organized by Aero Dron Proyects and for which the Town Hall contributes 24,200 euros. It is included in the official calendar of the Royal Spanish Aeronautical Federation.

The event will be broadcast live by streaming and a summary of 15 to 20 minutes will also be broadcast on the Teledeporte channel, “thus contributing to giving visibility to our city, in addition to offering an impressive show to the public present”, according to the Sports Advisor, Francisco Villaescusa. In this finale there will be a pioneering security system, one hundred percent safe for the public and for pilots, with perimeter networks and an aerial network.

“Albacete will be part of the large community of Fpv enthusiasts, piloting drones with remote vision which use an on-board camera to send live images to glasses, a mobile phone or a tablet,” explains the councilor.

On the other hand, on Friday 22 in the morning an exhibition of flights with mini drones is planned for children with ADHD and autism spectrum disorders, as it is proven that they stimulate the cognitive properties of the brain. And workshops and conferences that all invited schools and associations can attend. Meanwhile, on Friday afternoon, those who wish will be able to fly their drone (DJI Mini model or similar). Participation is free, but you must register.

Objective: “create a hobby”

This first FPV drone racing league “will lay the foundations to strengthen this new competition and this new sport, and will create a pool to have continuity. We will make our Spanish teams and drivers more competitive and increase their level of driving, thus being able to be at the level of other world powers such as the United States, South Korea or Japan, in addition to creating fans”, believe the organizers.

They add that it is a very competitive, very technological, innovative and potentially therapeutic and educational sport. Thanks to real-time transmission, when you put on the glasses, the immersion is total, “you really fly, without any danger for the pilot”.

Finally, the councilor predicts that “the public will perceive the passage of these mini-cars very closely, so that the sensations and the visual spectacle are incomparable, thanks to the speed, the accelerations, the rushes, the lines, the collisions , falls and real accidents”.
