In Belarus, intelligence information was previously collected using the Pokémon Go game, according to Alexander Ivanov, head of the main department for ideological work of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic.
According to him, the secret services of other countries have always been interested in Belarus. In this regard, he recalled the Pokémon Go game, popular ten years ago, when “every teenager and child used some application.”
“You turn on the camera, augmented reality, look for some rare Pokémon and gather them into a collection. Where do you think there were the most Pokémon at that time? On the territory of the 50th airbase, where there is a landing strip, there is a large amount of military aviation equipment. There were the largest number of Pokémon there. Isn’t this intelligence information?” – said Ivanov.
Recall that earlier the Belarusian special services reported on the detention of a Japanese citizen. It was noted that he was collecting information on the socio-political situation in the country, on the implementation of the “One Belt, One Road” initiative, photographed military infrastructure, and also transmitted data on what was happening on the border between Belarus and Ukraine.
