Telefónica recovers 100% of mobile and landline service in Valencia after DANA

At the most critical moment, suffered in the early morning from Tuesday October 29 to Wednesday October 30up to 76 fixed exchanges and 245 mobile establishments were affected. This data concerned 30% of Telefónica’s fixed network in Valencia and 22% of the mobile network.

Up to 104 cities experienced communication problems at that time. Currently, Telefónica teams have already recovered the 76 fixed exchanges and 245 mobile establishments, while the problems of the 104 affected municipalities have been resolved.

How Telefónica service recovered

THE Telefónica teams reacted from the first moment to the serious damage caused by DANA. Here’s how they helped the Valencians:

  • In the first place, Their priority has focused on the restoration of critical and emergency services such as 112.hospital and outpatient centers and command or control centers.
  • Once these services were stabilized, tasks focused on recovering fixed and mobile infrastructure so that citizens could be connected again.
  • In this process, Telefónica has reinforced the work of its teams with mobile unitssatellite phones and installation of satellite antennas to provide connectivity in areas most impacted by DANA.
  • Once all fixed and mobile infrastructure has been recovered, Telefónica teams will continue to work to restore full services. Mobile coverage has already returned to pre-DANA levels, allowing citizens to use their cell phones.
  • Concerning fixed services, with the infrastructure already recovered, the work is done street by street and house by house verify that the fiber cables exiting the recovered installations are correctly connected and synchronized to the fiber optic terminal boxes (CTO) and that this fiber, in turn, arrives correctly at the customer’s home to confirm the full recovery of the service. Aid of three million euros

He Telefónica Board of Directors approved an extraordinary allocation of three million euros which will be used to help people affected by DANAthe company announced this Friday.
