Kazakh state-owned company KazMunayGas (KMG) and Vietnamese group Sovico discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the production of environmentally friendly aviation fuel, according to the press service of KMG.
According to information, the issues of interaction were discussed at the meeting of the chairman of the board of KMG. Askhat Jasenov with the director of the Sovico group Nguyen Thanh Hungom.
Earlier it was reported that the Vietnamese company was going to buy the Kazakh airline Qazaq Air. In this regard, during the negotiations, special attention was paid to cooperation in projects for the production of aviation fuel and carbon credits from SAF.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to create special working groups between the companies to further study issues related to the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). As stated in the statement, this fuel, unlike conventional jet fuel, reduces carbon emissions by 80%.
The deal for Vietnam to buy Kazakh airline Qazaq Air is reported to be completed this month.
