Japan will participate in the construction of two small hydroelectric power plants (HPP) on the Chon-Kemin River in Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
According to the department, relevant issues were discussed at a meeting of the Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraeva with the president of Muroo Systems Corporation Pan Zhongxin.
As a result of the negotiations, the parties signed an investment agreement for the implementation of a project for the construction of two small hydroelectric power plants on the Chon-Kemin River with a total capacity of 24-25 megawatts.
A memorandum on the implementation of an investment project for the construction of a solar photovoltaic station with a capacity of up to 100 megawatts in the Batken region (south of the republic) was also signed. The Japanese investor has undertaken to build a solar station with its own funds or to obtain financing through loans.
Up to $100 million is expected to be invested in projects to build small hydroelectric plants and solar power plants.
