Donald Trump, who won the US presidential election, denied media reports that he intended to invite former Secretary of State during his first administration, Mike Pompeo, to join the new government.
“I will not invite the former permanent representative (of the United States to the UN) nikki haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to join the administration,” – Trump wrote on the Truth Social social network.
He added that the composition of the future cabinet of ministers is currently being formed.
Previously, CBS News reported that the future US administration could include people who previously worked with Trump during his first term, as well as new people.
Notably, Pompeo was called a likely candidate for the position of Secretary of Defense. A Republican senator was named future secretary of state Bill Hagertywho served as US ambassador to Japan under Trump and former US trade representative, is a candidate for Treasury secretary. Robert Lighthitzer and founder of a hedge fund in Connecticut Scott Bessent.
