Abbas’s possible visit to the Gaza Strip

Egypt agreed to allow Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing, but made it conditional on Israeli approval, which never materialized.

This was reported by The Times of Israel news agency.

According to a diplomat from an unnamed Middle Eastern country, the Palestinian Authority has asked Israel and Egypt to help organize Abbas’s promised visit to Gaza. Cairo raised no objections, but noted that Jerusalem’s approval was needed. However, Israel refused to comply with this request.

As previously reported, at a press conference in Beit Lehem attended by US President Joe Biden, Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas called for a two-state solution to the conflict and intensified efforts to create an independent Palestinian state.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas delivered a speech to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish MPs, expressing gratitude to Turkey for its support, criticizing the United States and saying that “the occupiers are doomed to defeat.”

Abbas unexpectedly announced his intention to visit the Gaza Strip, accompanied by Palestinian leaders. However, he did not provide details on how the visit would be implemented and did not specify how Hamas militants would react to his plan.

In addition, Cursor has already reported that Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the Hamas terrorist organization, blaming it for the prolonged conflict in the Gaza Strip. Abbas claims that Hamas, by preventing national unity and creating the conditions for Israeli military action, is contributing to the continuation of violence.
