Moscow strongly condemns Israeli airstrikes against targets in the Syrian province of Hama and calls on the Russian Federation to stop such armed provocations in the republic, which are fraught with uncontrollable destabilization of the situation in the Middle East, according to a comment by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova.
It draws attention to the fact that on 8 September the Israeli Air Force carried out a series of strikes against targets in the Hama province of the Syrian Arab Republic. According to official data, the strike killed 18 people, injured 37 and caused significant material damage, including to civilian infrastructure.
“We strongly condemn the forceful actions taken by Israel, which constitute a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and the basic norms of international law.” – said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
“We once again call on the Israeli side to stop armed provocations against Syria and to abandon such irresponsible actions that are fraught with uncontrollable destabilization of the situation in the Middle East,” the diplomat stressed. “We are convinced that such a development will in no way contribute to strengthening the security of Israel, as well as other states in the region. It must be prevented, not provoked.”
