Complaints for crimes against sexual freedom increase by 5.2% in the Community of Madrid

The complaints registered for crimes against sexual freedom in the Community of Madrid increased by 5.2 percent in the first half of the year, compared to the same period of the previous year, according to data presented on Tuesday by the government delegate, Francisco Martín. his appearance to take stock of the crime data in the region during the first months of the year.

“The number of unreported incidents in society is decreasing. Impunity is gradually disappearing. We must continue on this path,” explained the delegate, who considers it positive that more incidents related to sexual assault are now being reported.

In concrete terms, the number of complaints for violations of sexual freedom with penetration is 15.5 percent higher than in the first half of the previous year. There are 48 other penetrating assaults that have been reported. In addition, complaints of assault with penetration represent 24 percent of crimes against sexual freedom. The remaining 76 percent are related to other typologies, with an increase of 2 percent, from 1,075 to 1,099 crimes.

Cybercrime increased by 5.7 percent, or 2,030 additional violations compared to the previous first half. They are focusing on computer scams, which account for more than half of the thefts in the region. “This is growing and becoming a criminal typology that is the most common in terms of thefts.”

Vehicle thefts increased by 1.1 percent, or about 40 additional vehicles. “We will have to step up to reach the green color at the traffic light,” the delegate said.

“We are on the right track, with a 1 percent reduction in conventional crime, which is a fact,” he stressed. The number of criminal offences as a whole increased by 0.3 percent in the first half of the year, as cybercrime crimes accumulate. “There is absolute stability,” assured the delegate, who believes that we are moving “on the right track of citizen security, without any triumphalism.” Conventional crime decreased by 0.9 percent. In the first half of the year, there were 1,487 fewer criminal offences.

In the city of Madrid, the trends are similar, according to the delegate. Total crime has been reduced by 0.3 percent, a reduction of about 300 criminal offenses. Conventional crime has decreased by 1.3 percent.

Squat

Regarding squatting, the delegate assured that it is “another of those big curtains that the right uses irresponsibly to sell alarms.” In this sense, he explained that within the framework of the National Police, the reality is that there are 545 squatted homes, in a stock of 2,800,000 homes.

For this reason, the delegate expressed his solidarity and empathy with every owner who finds themselves in this situation. But he compared other data: there are 25,000 unregistered tourist residences in the city of Madrid, “some speak of 28,000”. This problem, he said, must be addressed by the political leaders of the Community of Madrid and by the Madrid City Council. “They have an interest in selling alarms.”
