The assault on a chalet on Quitapesares Street, in the El Brillante neighborhood of Cordoba, this morning, is the latest episode of the wave of thefts suffered by this residential area of the capital of Córdoba, which now totals four assaults since the last Puente de Todos los Santos and an escalation which has not stopped in recent years.
The owners, as ABC learned, upon arriving at their house – located on a dead-end street – found the cut the fence and the window was blown out, the thieves took especially the jewels and money that were inside the house, and left the rooms of the house completely looted.
Brillante residents held a meeting this week with the Government sub-delegatewith the chief inspector of National Police and other officials who told him that resources in the area were being intensified. So far this doesn’t seem to have any effect.
Representatives of El Brillante discussed with the authorities during this meeting the possibility of public security camerasthey will transfer you to Government delegationbut they were told this was going to be “complicated by data protection law, which is very protective of privacy”. In addition, they consider it vital to increase surveillance and presence in the area.
It must be remembered that some of these thefts occurred with violence against the residents inside. Concretely, last September, three hooded individuals burglarized a chalet in Street of the Theologian Núñez who entered the house while its owners were inside, around 9:45 p.m.
In this case, the three attackers, who were armed, entered the house, surprising their residentswhom they threatened while they ransacked the house. They took away numerous personal items and money, national police sources confirmed to ABC.
