Former Councilor Alfredo Prada Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison for the Failure of Esperanza Aguirre’s City of Justice

The National Court has condemned seven years in prison to the former vice-president and former Minister of Justice of the Community of Madrid Alfredo Prada for a continuous crime of prevarication in media competition with a continuous crime of aggravated embezzlement. This was decided on the basis of the 24 contracts awarded for a total of 40 million euros for the construction of the Justice Campus of the popular Esperanza Aguirre between the years 2005 and 2011.

Similarly, he was sentenced for the same offence to prison terms of three years and six months in prison to four employees who were part of the management team of this project. They are the technical general manager, Isabelino Baños; the financial manager, Alicio de las Heras; the director of the Security area, as well as the legal advisor of the project, Félix José García de Castro.

All must jointly and severally compensate the Community of Madrid in the amount of 40,482,735.78 euros and, alternatively, failing the above, Félix García de Castro will be civilly liable for this amount.
