The Local Police seized a total of six cards for people with reduced mobility (PRM) in the parking areas of a Palma shopping center reserved for these users.
In a press release, the Local Police report that on the morning of this Thursday, November 7, agents from the Motorized Unit (UMOT) carried out security checks. use of cards for people with reduced mobility in the parking areas of the Fan Mallorca shopping center, reserved for these users.
During the checks carried out, the local police filed seven complaints for non-compliance with the Universal Accessibility Law of the Balearic Islands, each of which can be punished with a fine of up to 6,000 euros. Concretely, the following violations of the said law were noted: two PMR card holders absent, showing a photocopy; two PMR card holders absent; an absent PMR card holder, with an expired card; a PMR card holder absent, with the card illegible; and finally, a non-visible PMR card.
In turn, five traffic violations were reported for inappropriate parking in parking lots reserved for people with reduced mobility, which represents a serious offense, punishable by 200 euros.
In total, 12 regulatory violations were noted and six cards were seized.
Due to the increase in violations that affect the use of parking spaces reserved for people affected by functional diversity and in response to the needs and requests of these users, the Local Police will continue checks in various places such as hospitals, shopping centers or any other space for public use.
