Russian President opens large-scale exercise of the Russian Navy “Ocean-2024”

Today, September 10, the Russian Navy launched the strategic command and staff exercise “Ocean-2024”, involving more than 400 warships. The exercises were launched via teleconference by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Ocean-2024” is one of the main operational and combat training events of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in 2024. The exercises are held from September 10 to 16 under the general leadership of the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy, Admiral Alexandra Moiseeva.

The exercises are taking place in the waters of the Pacific, Arctic, Mediterranean, Caspian and Baltic oceans. In total, more than 400 warships, submarines and support vessels for the auxiliary fleet, 125 aircraft and helicopters of the naval aviation of the Navy and the Aerospace Forces, around 7,000 units of weapons, military and special equipment, and more than 90,000 personnel are involved.

Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Andrei Belousov The Ocean-2024 exercises will test defense against large-scale aggression against Russia from the sea, the statement said. Representatives of 15 states have been invited as observers.

Before the start of the exercises, Vladimir Putin noted that the aim of the exercises was to test in detail the combat readiness of the Russian Navy and Aerospace Forces. In addition, the president said that the United States is increasing its military presence near Russia’s borders. They are already practicing the transfer and deployment of their missiles in the Asia-Pacific region. The American side is trying to maintain military-political dominance at any cost, using Ukraine against the Russian Federation.

The exercises will test the use of high-precision weapons, as well as other modern weapons, taking into account the experience of the Northern Military Region.

Russia must be prepared to repel a possible military aggression in any direction, including at sea. The Russian Federation will continue to strengthen its Navy, including its strategic nuclear component, Vladimir Putin said.
