The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, the popular Carlos Mazón, expressed his respect for the “pain” expressed by the thousands of demonstrators who supported Saturday’s demonstration in the streets of central Valencia.
Before participating in this Sunday’s meetings at the Integrated Operational Coordination Center of the Valencian Community (Cecopi), Mazón expressed his deep respect for the feeling manifested during the demonstration and added that he preferred not to qualify the incidents recorded in term that, according to him, “neither the victims nor the Valencian people deserve it”.
Asked about taking responsibility, the head of the Consell refers to his appearance next Thursday, where he will give “all the details”, a session “aimed at the explanations that the people concerned and the Valencians deserve” which will take place “in a orderly manner. The leader of the Valencian Popular believes that these weeks “there is a lot of permanent and contradictory information”, without mentioning the continuous changes of versions that his own office has made. Mazón assures that “this is an appearance on my initiative, I have not seen anyone else ask me to appear at the seat of Parliament. I was the only one to ask for an explanation and an appearance,” while the opposition constantly asked for explanations. “We will continue to show our face and work for the Valencians,” he assured.
Shortly before, the vice-president of the Consell, Susana Camarero, spoke in the same terms and avoided talking about resignations or changes in the regional executive. “No resignation is possible at this time,” underlined the number two of the Executive.
