Amancio Ortega debuts at British logistics company and strengthens portfolio in Italy for nearly €400 million

Amancio Ortega makes a gesture. The founder and owner of Inditexthrough its investment branch Pontegadeahas formalized its entry into the UK logistics market after acquiring a warehouse on the edge of the airport Heathrowone of the most important freight and passenger enclaves in the world.

It is a property of approximately 15,795 square meters for which the businessman paid an amount close to 65 million pounds (77 million euros). The building is leased to a company that produces food for airplane passengers. In this way, the asset meets one of Pontegadea’s essential requirements: that the enclave generates cash from day one.

This is not the first operation that Amancio Ortega has carried out in the British Isles this year. Last July, also through Pontegadea, he acquired an office building for 52 million euros.

Italy

According to the real estate portal Green Street News and EL ESPAÑOL-Invertia has been able to confirm that this is not the only move that Amancio Ortega has made in the European logistics market.

In this sense, in recent weeks Pontegadea would also have formalized the purchase of a series of assets in Italy – notably in Rome and Milan – for 327 million euros.
