The criminal case against Yusif Ismayilov, accused of murdering the athlete in Baku, has ended.
APA reports that the sentence was read out to the accused in the trial presided over by Judge Fakhri Mammadov at the Baku Serious Crimes Court.
According to the court’s verdict, Yusif Ismayilov was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
According to the indictment, on January 13 this year the prosecution received information about the intentional murder of Etibar Fataliyev, born in 1995, in the Sabail region.
As a result of operational and investigative measures, it was established that Yusif Ismayilov, born in 1993, intentionally killed his aunt Etibar Fataliyev with a knife at 15 Salyan Highway, Sabail District.
Based on the evidence gathered, Yusif Ismayilova was charged under Article 120.2.2 of the Criminal Code (hooligan-intent homicide) and, based on the petition of the investigator and the submission of the district prosecutor who procedurally led the preliminary investigation, the court’s decision imposed a measure of pre-trial detention against her.
It should be noted that the murdered Etibar Fataliyev was a professional athlete. Yusif Ismayilov, 31, suspected of causing the incident, is the son of Etibar’s aunt.
