Russian President invites Vietnamese leader to attend BRICS summit in Kazan

Russian President Vladimir Putin has received Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam Tran Thanh Manh in the Kremlin, TASS reports.

During the meeting, Tran Thanh Man shared his impressions of Russia’s achievements and expressed his country’s intention to develop cooperation with the Russian Federation.

“I would like to congratulate you and the Russian people on the successes achieved under your leadership. Russia maintains political and economic stability, GDP is growing, Russia is increasing its role in the international arena.” – said the Speaker of the National Assembly of Vietnam.

He added that the Vietnamese people consider the Russian Federation to be one of their main partners.

“We want to intensify cooperation with Russia in all spheres for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and in the world.” – Tran Thanh Man also said.

Vladimir Putin, for his part, praised the warm welcome he received in Hanoi during his state visit to Vietnam. According to him, only true friends meet like this.

“I remember how warmly I was welcomed in Hanoi in June, as true friends welcome me. I remember all these [прошедшие в Ханое] meetings. I’m glad to see you in Moscow.” – said the Russian leader.

He expressed his confidence that the results of his visit to Hanoi will undoubtedly benefit the development of bilateral relations.

“I ask you to convey my best wishes to the President. [Вьетнама] Comrade Lam, I hope you can take advantage of the invitation extended to participate in BRICS events in the “outreach” format. – Putin also said.

At the end of the meeting, the President of Russia expressed his condolences to the Chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam and the entire leadership of the socialist republic for the tragic consequences of the typhoon that hit the country.

“I know that a strong typhoon hit Vietnam the other day. Please accept my deepest condolences for the tragic consequences of the natural disaster.” – said the head of the Russian Federation.

According to the latest data, Typhoon Yagi, which hit northern Vietnam, has left at least 127 people dead and more than 50 missing. More than 750 people were injured. Due to heavy rains, flooding began in the north of the republic, including the capital, Hanoi, and up to 200,000 hectares of agricultural land were inundated.

On June 19-20, the Russian President paid a state visit to Hanoi. Russia and Vietnam signed 11 documents and adopted a declaration “On deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership in the context of the 30th anniversary of the implementation of the Russian-Vietnamese Treaty on the Foundations of Friendly Relations.”

The BRICS summit will be held in Kazan from 22 to 24 October. In addition to the meeting of the leaders of the BRICS countries, there will be events in the “outreach” format, to which, among other things, the leaders of the leading and developing countries are invited.
