Hezbollah operative Salim Ayyash, convicted of assassinating Rafik Hariri, was killed in an Israeli strike in Syria. This was reported by the Al Arabiya television channel with reference to sources.
“Sources from Al Arabiya and Al Hadath confirmed the murder of Hezbollah member Salim Ayyash, convicted of the murder of Rafik Hariri, as a result of an Israeli attack in Syria.” – reports the television channel.
It should be noted that Ayyash was convicted in absentia for the murder of Hariri along with three other Hezbollah members by the Special Court for Lebanon in December 2020. According to the prosecutor’s decision, Ayash and three others: Hussein Oneisi, Hassan Habib Merhi AND Assad’s saber – were charged with “participation in a conspiracy to commit a terrorist act” in the assassination of Hariri on February 14, 2005.
