Borrell at the Rafah checkpoint: “It is urgent to resume the supply of aid”

EU High Representative Josep Borrell visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing, where one of the key border crossings with the Gaza Strip is located. During his visit, Borrell expressed concern about the situation of humanitarian aid supplies and noted that it is urgent to fully resume the supply.

This was reported by Today in Israel.

He said that at the entrance to Gaza there is currently an endless flow of trucks with goods that cannot yet be delivered to those in need. Borrell stressed the importance of opening the border crossings as soon as possible for the unhindered passage of humanitarian supplies, as well as for the evacuation of citizens and medical workers.

Borrell also visited the nearby Zuweid hospital, supported by UNICEF and the European Union. Young patients told him about the difficulties they face while in hospital.

Red Cross volunteers in the region are concerned that warehouses with humanitarian supplies remain blocked, as they say is due to the actions of the Israeli authorities.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Egypt had filed a claim for Rafah.

Saudi publication Al Hadath, citing unnamed sources, reports that Egypt is insisting that Israel stop controlling the Rafah border crossing in the first days of a possible truce.
