Police officer on trial for reporting that agents were throwing parties on drug traffickers’ yachts

A Cadiz National Police officer faces a prison sentence 5 years in prison for revealing secrets after reporting that other officers had hosted parties with women on a yacht seized from drug traffickers. After receiving footage of the parties on the boatThe officer reported the facts internally to his superiors but received only silence in response. Finally the police officer, tired of reporting the abuse of public property by other agents, made his complaints public. The defendants’ response was immediate and they in turn reported the agent for the crime of revealing secrets.

The police officer reported the parties on the drug trafficker’s boat in February 2015 and documented his complaint with all kinds of evidence. Today, after almost a decade of legal struggle and several complaint files against the officer and subsequent appeals, the accused officers have managed to put the complainant in the dock. It will be next September 24 and if found guilty, the officer who reported the abuse of public property could be expelled from the National Police.

However, the police officer’s complaint against his colleagues and drug traffickers was dismissed despite the fact that the alleged actions of his colleagues using a yacht and a motorcycle confiscated from drug traffickers could represent a serious breach of ethics and would constitute a direct violation of the code of ethics that governs all members of the state security forces and organs.

“They looked away”

What should have been the start of an internal investigation into the alleged misuse of assets seized from drug traffickers and a clarification of responsibilities, became a professional and personal ordeal for the complainant as he highlighted the alleged involvement of a police commander.

The SUP accuses the bosses of this agent of “looking the other way” and adds: “The same individuals captured in the images, using a pleasure boat seized for drug trafficking, far from facing the consequences of their actions, used their influence to transform the situation around. “Instead of receiving the support of his hierarchy and the institution he serves, this colleague found the entire state apparatus against him.”

The United Police Union (SUP), to which the complainant police officer belonged as local secretary at Sanlucar de Barrameda gives him all its moral and legal support: “This comrade has fulfilled the ethical and legal duty to which he is bound as a police officer and, by extension, as a union representative.” They accuse the General Directorate of the Police of having ignored the officer’s complaints in order to hide an alleged scandalous event within the Corps.
