A natural fire broke out in the Neysky district of the Kostroma region, the press service of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry for the region reported.
“The forest floor is on fire – leaves and needles. The fire area is 1.9 hectares. Location work is underway. The fire on the ground was discovered during a ranger patrol.” – the message said.
Workers and special equipment from the chemical fire station, the forestry department and the tenant of the site were called to the scene. 25 people and six teams are involved in extinguishing the fire. The Ministry of Emergency Situations explained that the work in the initial stage was complicated by the need to cut off the road to the fire and the distance to the water.
The regional administration said there was no threat to populated areas. The nearest of these is 7 km north of the fire.
