THE Socuéllamos Wine Tasters Association (Asocaviso) recognized the career and contributions to the wine sector of Joaquín Parra, director of Wine Up Consulting, by awarding him the Taster of the Year award. Parra, widely known for his work in disseminating and analyzing the wine sector, received the award at the annual gala of this entity, organized within the framework of the national tasting competition, which coincides with the Manchavino grape harvest festivities.
Joaquín Parra, in addition to directing Wine Up Consulting, is the author of the Wine Up! guide.considered the best wine guide in Spain in 2023 by the IWC Industry Merchant Awards, has also received national recognition from winemakers and sommeliers. This award is a reflection of its exclusive dedication to the sector for more than 25 years.
He president of Asocaviso, Manuel Gómez Realeshighlighted Parra’s work in promoting wine and his ability to democratize wine knowledge through his guide and the tastings he conducts on tour in Spain with the Wine Up Tour. The ceremony was also attended by important figures from the sector, journalists participating in a trip and managers of wineries in the region.
THE Mayor of Socuéllamos, Conchi Arenashighlighted Joaquín Parra’s commitment to his origins, carrying the name of the city and the wines of its land throughout the country, being a source of pride for his compatriots.
This recognition adds to a long list of achievements by Joaquín Parra, already recognized at events such as the Virgen de las Viñas National Journalism Award and IWC Industry Merchant Awards for the best wine guide in Spain 2023 and a gold medal for the dissemination of wine culture by the FEAE (Spanish Federation of Winegrowers’ Associations), among others.
