He was part of the Hacemos Córdoba lists in the last municipal elections, although he also passed through Izquierda Unida.
Former city councilor of Cordoba and historic leader of the environmental movement in the province, José Larios, died this Tuesday September 10 in Cordoba at the age of 71. Larios was part of the Corporation from 1995 to 1999, in the City Hall of Cordoba, with the Group of United Left and was also Director General of Environmental Education for the Junta of Andalusia between the years 2000 and 2001.
In the last municipal elections of 2023, Larios was the candidate of the coalition We do Cordoba, who mourned his loss on Tuesday in a statement in which he highlighted his “indispensable figure in the fight for the environment, social justice and neighbourhood rights”. He was also the founder of the environmental platform Equo.
Jose Larios Martón, retired professor of mathematics and natural sciences At ESO, he was a speaker at the UNESCO World Congress on Environmental Education in Santiago de Compostela in 2001, at the European Commission for the Environment’s Green Week 2001 in Brussels, at the World Conference on Alternative Energy in Madrid in 1992, and as a volunteer presenter for The Climate Project Spain, Nobel Laureate Al Gore’s first non-English speaking project to disseminate the issue of global warming.
