The Sun enters major flare mode – Solar Astronomy Laboratory

Solar activity is transforming into a regime of large flares; Today two explosions were recorded, one of them at level M9.5. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the IKI and the ISTP.

“Previously predicted processes began to occur on the Sun… After wasting energy on countless small explosions, the Sun in the last 24 hours appears to have finally switched into the mode of accumulating forces for large flares. Today… the star managed to gather energy for the first two notable explosions.” — says a message posted on the laboratory’s website.

At around 03:15 Moscow time, a “medium intensity event” M4.2 occurred, and at 15:06 a flare M9.5 was recorded, which was only 5% below point a more powerful explosion in area 3889 near the direction of the Earth. The laboratory believes, however, that it does not seem to have much impact on our planet.

It is noted that “the probabilities of negative scenarios are still at unpleasantly high levels, and the fact that in the second half of the week none of them have materialized is nothing more than luck that, unfortunately, cannot last long” . scientists summarize.
