Despite the significant loss of seats in parliament by the ruling Liberal Democratic Party and its coalition partner, the Komeito Party (the LDP received 191 seats instead of 247, the Komeito, 24 instead of 32), Ishiba has good chances of being re-elected for this post. At the same time, voting in parliament will most likely take place in two rounds, since in the first round no candidate will be able to receive more than half of the votes.
If Ishiba becomes prime minister again, he will form a new cabinet on Monday. Its composition is expected to remain virtually unchanged: there will be three substitutes linked to the election results: the Minister of Justice, the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Transport.
