The death toll from Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam has exceeded 140 people

As a result of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam, the death toll has reached 141 people and 59 people are missing, Reuters reported this on September 11, citing local authorities.

River levels are seen to be rising rapidly due to flooding, which threatens to inundate central areas of the capital Hanoi. According to the publication, the water level of the Red River in Hanoi is rising by 10 centimetres every hour.

Due to heavy rains brought by the typhoon, some schools in Hanoi advised students to stay home for the rest of the week. Residents of low-lying areas of Vietnam were evacuated.

Earlier on September 10, local media reported that 13 people were missing as a result of the collapse of the Phong Chau Bridge over the Red River amid a typhoon and heavy flooding.

Later President of Russia Vladimir Putin during a meeting with the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic Tran Thanh Manom The Kremlin has expressed its condolences to the Vietnamese leaders in connection with the tragic consequences of Typhoon Yagi.

It was previously reported that 64 people in Vietnam were killed by the super typhoon, 49 died from landslides and flash floods.
