Liputan6.com, Moscow – According to the Prime Minister of Russia, Russia and North Korea on Wednesday (April 30) began the construction of a bridge between the two countries that will stretch over the Tumen River as part of the efforts to strengthen their strategic partnership.
The bridge was built nearby Friendship bridge (Friendship Bridge), which already exists, of the railway bridge, which was opened in 1959 after the Korean War.
At a ceremony dedicated to the start of the construction of a new bridge, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that this is an important event in relations between Russia-Several Korea, TASS State Information Agency reports.

“This symbolizes our common desire to strengthen friendly relations, be a good neighbor and increase regional cooperation,” added Mishustin.
The new bridge, which has been discussed for many years, extends along 850 meters and will connect to the Russian highway system. Construction was approved during the visit of President Vladimir Putin to North Korea in 2024.
Russian newspaper Kommersant He said that the bridge will be ready in the summer of 2026.
Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said that the bridge “will allow entrepreneurs to significantly increase the volume of transport and reduce transportation costs, ensure the supply of various reliable and stable products, which will contribute to the expansion of trade and economic cooperation”, TASS report.
