The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has activated the orange warning for rain “abundant” this week in the capital Malaga and in the province. The two heavy rain alerts will be activated on Wednesday November 13 between 06:00 and 00:00, for the moment, in the areas of the Costa del Sol and the Guadalhorce Valley.
More precisely, it is expected that on this day until 30 liters per square meter in less than an hour and 100 liters in 12 hours. The advisory given by Aemet also indicates that “it is possible that the episode of persistent rains will continue during the next day”.
The areas most affected by the rains will be Cartama And Aloramunicipalities which have already suffered the consequences of the previous DANA at the end of October. The chance of rain in Álora is between 60% and 100%, while in Cártama lighter showers are expected from Monday, with greater intensity on Wednesday and Thursday.
Even if Aemet had already announced that this week a new DANA towards the peninsula and had therefore activated the yellow warning on the Costa del Sol, Guadalhorce and in Axarquía, now the warning has changed to orange. In the case of THURSDAY The incidence of DANA is expected to be lower, although it remains to be seen whether alerts will be activated.
For Tuesday, the forecast is rainwith cloudy periods since dawn, blowing from the east. Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 will be rainy days, with a chance of precipitation around 60%. In terms of temperatures, a sharp drop in temperatures is also expected for Wednesday. From the estimated maximum of 22 degrees for this Tuesday, it can go up to around 17 degrees maximum Wednesday. However, the thermometer will rise again on Thursday.
Reservoirs are improving
The good news that these rains bring is that they will allow us to continue improve files of the current hydrological year. So far, the intense rains brought by the last DANA have meant that towns like Cártama, Álora, Ardales, Campillos and Tolox have already recorded more water than in the entire previous hydrological year.
Until less than two weeks ago, Malaga was experiencing a critical situation in its swamps, which were at 15%. Now, even though the province remains on drought alert, the swamps have twice as much water as the week of October 21. According to data proposed by the Hidrosur Network of the Junta de Andalucía, the Malaga swamps are found after the rains of 30% of its capacity. Concretely, they accumulate 141.14 cubic hectometers (hm3) out of the total of 611.48 hm3 that they could have.
By tanks, the one with the highest percentage of water is the Casasolawhich is at 55.7%. The second is that of Concepción, which is at 54.5%, and the third is that of Conde Guadalhorce, which is at 38.5%. Below average are Limonero (17.7%), Guadalteba (17.2%), Viñuela (15%) and Guadalhorce (13.65%).
