Most people became aware that excessive sugar consumption is harmful to health, but a new analysis shows that the way you consume sugar can be less important than the quantity that you eat according to the website “Health”.

I found that an overview of approximately 30 studies in which the use of sweet drinks, such as soda, can increase the risk of type 2 diabetes than the use of sweet foods, such as cookies and cakes.

Dr. Karen Del Korte, the main research researcher and associate professor of the department of food science at the University of Brigham Yang in the United States, told the HEALTH magazine that “this study blocks an important loophole, focusing on the context that consumed sugar.”

She added: “Instead of issuing public statements calling to completely terminate the use of sugar, we now have convincing evidence that its source, shape and nutrients surrounding it are the main factors that determine the risks.”

What is worse: drink sugar or is it?

While Della Courty called this the first widespread analysis of how the type of sugar consumption in health, the researchers considered 29 studies in which they analyzed the habits of more than 500,000 people on several continents.

They made a sudden conclusion: the use of sugar from illiquid sources was not associated with a high risk of type 2 diabetes, but drinks were related to this with the difficulty of sugar.

With each additional daily share (12 ounces) of a diabetic drink, such as energy drinks and sports drinks, the risk of diabetes of the 2nd type increased by 25 percent. Even fruit juice had an effect, since each additional share (8 ounces) increases the risk by 5 percent.

Researchers noted that food sugar has nothing to do with the risk of type 2 diabetes, regardless of its quantity, but rather, in some cases, it has a preventive effect. The use of 20 grams (approximately two tablespoons of two tablespoons) were associated with tabular sugar and common food sugar, including natural sugar, with a decrease in type of type 2 diabetes.

Looking at the results in the aggregate, Della Corte indicates that “the types of sugars are not equal.”

It should be noted that the study does not prove that diabetes causes type 2 diabetes, but it turned out only to the relationship between them.

In fact, Dr. Laura A. Schmidt, professor of the Institute of Health Policy and the Department of Humanitarian and Social Sciences at the California University of California at the San Francisco, many people who drink these drinks can also be less physical activity, which may affect the risk of diabetes. Nevertheless, Schmidt told the HEALTH magazine that the study is “impressive on its scale.”

Why can liquid sugar be more harmful?

Della Courty said that sweetened drinks can be more harmful because they do not contain “none of the fibers, proteins or fats that usually slow down digestion” in food.

This means that it quickly enters the bloodstream, causing a sharp increase in glucose and insulin in the blood, bypassing signs of satiety in the brain. In addition, this rapid treatment can weaken the liver ability to treat sugar, especially fructose.

Della Courty explained that when consuming high doses of fructose, it turns into fat in the liver, and the accumulation of fat is associated with metabolic imbalance, such as insulin resistance, which causes type 2 diabetes.

Schmidt added that other components, such as chemical additives, artificial dyes and common aromas in sweet drinks, affect our “accurate metaphysical balance”.

She emphasized that sweetened drinks, such as sports drinks, soda and cocktails, are usually “harmful to your health and should be used with caution – and it is better not to consume them at all.”
