Canada has spoken out harshly about arms transfers to Israel.

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly has ordered a review of all previous contracts between Canadian arms suppliers and Israel.

“As a result, I suspended approximately 30 export licenses for Canadian companies this summer,” Joly said.

The minister noted that these licenses were issued before the ban on arms exports to Israel was introduced in January 2024. Canada has expressed concern about the use of its weapons in the Gaza Strip.

“Our policy is clear: we will not allow any weapons or parts of them to be sent to the Gaza Strip, period,” Joly stressed.

Earlier, Cursor reported that Britain also limited arms supplies to Israel, demanding a ceasefire and access to Palestinian prisoners by international organizations. British Foreign Secretary David Lemmy announced these conditions to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken during a meeting in London.

Lemmy also reported on the UK’s decision to suspend 30 defence export licenses for Israel, which has raised concerns in the US. Blinken expressed hope that these restrictions will be lifted and stressed that the US continues to support Israel and monitor the IDF’s compliance with international law in the Gaza Strip.

Lemmy added that there were no plans to impose further restrictions on arms supplies to Israel, but that the situation would be closely monitored, prompting discussions among US officials.
