It was reported that the meeting highlighted Azerbaijan’s holding of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), active participation in global climate action and successful partnership with the EBRD in various directions. It was stated that the promotion of the green economy occupies an important place in the socioeconomic development objectives of our country. During the meeting, the measures to be taken to strengthen joint activity in the field of the green economy, the use of renewable and alternative energy sources, support for public-private partnerships, the implementation of infrastructure projects were discussed with the Bank. and other areas. The importance of diversifying cooperation in the direction of the transition towards low-carbon solutions in the field of energy was highlighted. Within the framework of COP29, the prospects for platforms that will strengthen the partnership between Azerbaijan and the EBRD were discussed.
The first vice president of the EBRD, Yurgen Rigterink, highlighted the Bank’s effective cooperation with our country and the importance of the measures implemented within the framework of COP29. He said that Azerbaijan’s rich economic potential creates prospects for expansion of relations and the organization’s support to Azerbaijan will be continuous.
The parties exchanged views on the benefits of relations between Azerbaijan and the EBRD for sustainable development and effective climate action, as well as the prospects for joint projects.
