It should be noted that as a result, applications from British Army units were rejected eight times more last year than in 2019.

The Ministry of Defence acknowledged that Interflex was limiting the British Army’s ability to train its own soldiers, the report said.

“As the Ministry of Defence plans its future support to Ukraine, it must continue to balance the UK’s strategic interests with maintaining its own military capabilities. This includes ensuring adequate supplies of equipment and sufficient training facilities for British forces.” – said the head of the NAO Gareth Davis.

The military equipment, which was “often subject to disposal or replacement”, was sent to the British Ministry of Defence as a priority because it had “direct military value” to Ukraine, but sending it “reduced the costs associated with disposal”, the NAO said.
