The chairman of the Tajik Ulema Council, Saidmukarram Abdulkodirzoda, was stabbed near the central mosque in Dushanbe.
Oku.Az TASS reports that this was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic.
The offender was reportedly arrested.
It was reported that a criminal case has been opened in relation to the incident and investigative and operational measures are continuing.
The cleric was slightly injured and was sent home after a medical examination.
