The unions of the Madrid Sectoral Education Commission (CCOO, ANPE, CSIF and UGT) will demonstrate this Tuesday to denounce the “inaction” of the Ministry of Education and demand, among other things, the restoration of the school timetable at 6 p.m. in secondary education, vocational training and the special regime, a reduction in nursery and primary school hours to 11 p.m. or a shock plan against bureaucracy.
After the strike which will last all day, the demonstrations began in the morning with concentrations in different towns in the region. It will be this afternoon, when the demonstration will take place in the capital at 5:30 p.m., starting from the Fountain of Neptune and traveling through the streets of Madrid until reaching Sol.
According to the unions, the strike called for today was followed by 70% of teachers. A figure which contrasts with the 18% managed by the Community of Madrid, a percentage which shows a drop of six points compared to the last strike in May. Thus, the data proposed by the regional government decreased: on May 8 they recorded 24.5% and on May 21 they reached 23.8% surveillance.

On October 16, the unions already mobilized, located in front of the Ministry of Education, and carried out support actions in educational centers.
Other events are planned for November 14 and 21. On November 14, there will be a rally in front of the Assembly of Madrid, at 10:00 a.m. and support actions in the educational centers at the entrances and/or exits or during their respective breaks.
On November 21, the route of this Tuesday’s demonstration will be repeated. Occupying the center of Madrid from 5:30 p.m.
What do teachers ask?
According to what the unions report, they demand the free choice of working hours by the centers, the equalization of salaries with the rest of the autonomous communities, a reduction in ratios, the provision of the quotas necessary for diversity measures, a schedule of 18 hour work. courses for ESO, FP and RE, and 23 hours for preschool and primary school.
Under their motto “the voice of teachers will be heard” and after consulting teachers on the mobilizations, they will denounce the “suspension” by the Regional Executive of the meeting to which the unions were convened on September 12.
The organizations warned that, if the regional government “does not sit down to negotiate decent working conditions” for Madrid teachers, the calendar of mobilizations “will be extended to the following term”, postponing this confrontation until the end of the course, “if necessary.” necessary”.
The ministry is expected to meet with unions on October 31 to inform them of the new decisions and proposals.
