The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) has decided not to renew the extraordinary chair of competitive social transformation that it co-directs Begoña Gomezas confirmed to Europa Press by sources linked to the said master.
This was communicated by the UCM this Wednesday to the two entities that sponsored the chair, Reale Seguros and Fundación La Caixa, without specifying the reasons. The truth is that the agreement by which it was created, signed on October 30, 2020, had a four-year validityso – unless it is renewed – it expires next month.
The UCM’s decision comes in the context of the investigation carried out by the president of the Court of Instruction number 41 of Madrid, Juan Carlos Peinado, against Begoña Gómez for alleged influence peddling and corruption offences business; the rector of the University of Madrid, Joaquín Goyache; and the businessman Juan Carlos Barrabés, among others.
Precisely, one of the facts under investigation is whether there was favor a treatment in the creation of the aforementioned chair and in the decision to place Gómez as co-director.
