The agenda for individual sessions and meetings of the Conference of the Parties was adopted at the first plenary session of COP29.
The “Report” reports that the meeting was chaired by COP29 President Mukhtar Babayev.
After approving the agenda of several sessions and meetings, M. Babayev said that tomorrow the President of Azerbaijan will greet about 100 heads of state and government, after which they will make national statements at the Summit of World Leaders on Climate Action. The second part of this summit will take place on November 18 and 19.
According to his words, after Brazil the presidency of COP31 will pass to the group of Western European countries and of COP32 to the group of African countries. The president of COP29 called on these countries to activate negotiations to host climate conferences in 2026 and 2027.
The session also heard the report of the Loss and Damage Response Fund. The fund representative explained the work done so far and said that the fund’s board of directors will be located in the Philippines.
Subsequently, decisions were made on the sessions of CMP19 (meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol) and then CMA6 (meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement).
