THE Public company Nasuvinsa does not exclude adapting the decor and administrative offices of the film studies and cultural management of Lekaroz for other uses, in order to make the installations profitable.
This was highlighted in a tour of the facilities members of the Committee on Housing, Youth and Migration Policies of the Parliament of Navarre.
It is about a public infrastructure equipped for filming and the production of movie theatertelevision, advertising and other audiovisual products, including management was entrusted to the company Melitón Filmfirmly condemned for breach of contract (compensation for unpaid rent) with virtually no use of the facilities, inaugurated on December 13, 2019 after an investment of more than one million euros.
The members of the commission, reported the Parliament of Navarre, visited the studio facilities -two sets of 650 and 95 useful meters, changing rooms, locker rooms, offices, administrative area and technical and assembly premises- and the rural environment in which this installation is built.
The facility is designed to attract the film industry and promote the Navarrese audiovisual creation sector, also in the field of training, which is why two agreements have been formalized with the Navarrese Employment Service and the Faculty of Audiovisual Communication of the University of Navarra.
Carlos Chocarro, deputy director of the industrial land sector at Nasuvinsastressed that The work was carried out at the discretion of Melitónfollowing their project, despite which they abandoned and They ignored the contract that committed them for 20 years. “The CAV tax aid for audiovisual production may also have had an influence, even if the agreed rental price does not seem excessive compared to the budgets managed by the cinema. We continue to work, it is not easy to bring a film company here, there is little market,” he said.
Chocarro argued that they are willing to adapt to the needs of the audiovisual sector, without excluding other alternativesbecause “it is a question here of formalizing a contract and make the installations profitable“We have a large warehouse with two sets and some administrative premises that, if necessary, could be adapted for other uses. We are not ruling anything out,” he confirmed.
