The Republican Party will retain control of the US House of Representatives, having won the majority of seats, the Decision Desk HQ service predicts.
According to the latest data from the service, Republicans obtain the 218 seats in the House of Representatives necessary to maintain control of the legislature. They are expected to increase the majority to 220 seats, of which 215 will be held by Democrats.
It was previously reported that US media predicted a Republican majority in the Senate with 53 seats. Thus, both houses of Congress will be controlled by Republicans, a member of the party will assume the position of speaker of the House of Representatives and the winner of the elections, along with donald trump vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance will lead the Senate, which means that the three main elected positions will be held by Republicans.
The states’ Electoral College is scheduled to vote on candidates based on the will of voters on December 17, and the new Congress will certify the results on January 6. The inauguration will take place on January 20, RIA Novosti reminds.
