The hearing on the appeal against the sentence of Gasim Gasimov (suspended), accused of torture, has ended in the Baku Court of Appeals.
Pravda.az reports that the decision was announced at the trial presided over by Judge Emin Aliyev.
According to the decision, the appeal was not upheld.
According to the indictment, in 2023 Gasim Gasimov, born in 1995, beat and tormented his girlfriend, the victim Maya Farajova (conditional), out of jealousy, in one of the houses located in the city of Baku, Yasamal district, and in front of the building at that address, under the pretext of their separation.
He then repeatedly punched Maya, pressed the tip of a cigarette into her lower lip, grabbed her by the hair and punched her in the face, kicked her right leg, and punched her left arm and hip.
According to the verdict of the Narimanov District Court, Gasim Gasimov was sentenced to 2 years in prison.
