Recently, during a neighborhood meeting, after several years of sharing, the decision was made to cut down three of the trees that surround the building where we live: a cherry tree over forty years old that reaches up to the windows. on the third floor, a fir tree almost as tall as the house and an elderberry (in principle it is a bush, but it is so large that it can already be considered a tree). The reasons are logical: they are too close and block the sun, which is important in Austria.
In any case, I know that I will miss them very much and I can’t help but think that many of the things that I don’t like today in the world we live in started as decisions and changes which seemed beneficial when they occurred.
