Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters said he is ready to perform in Russia when it resumes its concert activities. This is what he said in response to a question from RIA Novosti in a conversation with Lugansk journalist Faina Savenkova.
“I don’t have a tour right now. I was touring with a show called This Is Not a Drill for two years. And then, of course, yeah, of course.” — Waters noted, commenting on the opportunity to perform in Russia, including the Donbass regions.
The 80-year-old rocker noted that “the Russians invited him to give concerts in Moscow and St. Petersburg.”
However, according to Waters, desire alone is not enough for a tour of Russia; the process of organizing a tour is very complex;
“We have almost 170 people on the road and 30 tractor-trailers carrying all the equipment. This is a huge, huge deal. It’s not like I’m walking around with a balalaika and singing in bars.” – explained the musician.
He added that he would like to perform in Ukraine once the conflict is over.
As reported EADailyIn December last year, Waters told Rossiya-1 that he was ready to consider moving to Russia. Waters noted that due to performances on Russian television, Western celebrities miss out on many projects and the opportunity to perform in their homeland. The rocker called this situation “absurd.”
In July this year, the Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev Medvedev invited Waters to speak to soldiers of a special military operation. According to Medvedev, the military will greatly appreciate this performance, and Waters is just one of those musicians who gives concerts not for money, but according to his personal beliefs.
Last week, the Russian veterans movement suggested that Waters consider becoming a Russian citizen. The activists sent a letter with their proposal to the musician’s personal email in Russian and English.
