The defense of Iñigo Errejón will appeal to the Provincial Court of Madrid temporary suspension of the cause decreed by the judge, after having asked the plaintiff’s lawyer, because he considers that it is “a delaying maneuver” by the prosecutionpracticed by a lawyer who was not formally involved in the case.
The judge in charge of the investigation into the former parliamentary spokesperson of Sumar for a case alleged crime of sexual assault agreed this Monday to suspend the case, as requested by the lawyer of the plaintiff, actress Elisa Mouliaá, due to the advanced stage of her pregnancy. The statement of Íñigo Errejón as investigator and that of the actress were scheduled for this Tuesday, but were canceled.
By order of Judge Adolfo Carretero, to whom EFE had access, the magistrate suspended the progress and deadlines of the procedure and temporarily archived it. “by legal imperative” until Mouliaá’s lawyer presents her medical discharge to the court, since she must make this decision pursuant to article 179.3 of the Code of Civil Procedure, reformed in 2023.
“Having received today the report of prolonged temporary incapacity from the aforementioned lawyer, who refused to appoint another lawyer which replaces her trust, the inevitable consequence is the impossibility of continuing the proceedings,” explains the order, in which it clarifies that the complainant is not legally involved in the case at this stage.

“It’s a delaying tactic,” he adds, and assures that Errejón “he wants to declare as quickly as possible to give explanations and defend his innocence.” This is why the lawyer plans to present his appeal before the Provincial Court throughout this week. The actress Elisa Mouliaá reported to the Family and Women’s Care Unit (UFAM) of the police that Errejón had sexually assaulted up to three times the same night in September 2021.
