Alberto Núñez Feijóo admits that he asked Pedro Sánchez to activate the national emergency for the DANAhaving been in place of Carlos Mazon. “The president of the government must trigger the national emergency and take control of the biggest catastrophe we have known in Spain in the last 50 years”, he argued in ‘Espejo Público’. When asked why the Valencian president did not ask for it and whether he would have done so if he had been in his shoes, Feijóo replied in the affirmative: “Certainly”he said.
The “popular” leader expressed this during an interview in which harshly accused Sánchez and Teresa Ribera and also pointed out to AEMET and the Hydrographic Confederation of Júcar to avoid letting down the Valencian president even more, despite the fact that in the PP they consider him a “toxic active” and they are aware that he cannot continue to lead the Generalitat.
However, the “popular” believes that this is not the time for Mazón to fall and that he cannot do it alone. This is why Feijóo tried to offload his responsibilities to the central government. “We must distinguish human errors from errors due to a lack of humanity,” he argued.
