Fernando Alonso was one of the “culprits” of this Adrian Newey to sign for Aston MartinThe Asturian acknowledged in a press conference this Thursday that he had written him a message to try to convince him. And it seems that he succeeded.
“I sent him a message… and I also saw him at the Monaco Historic GP and we spent half an hour chatting”acknowledged the double Formula 1 champion.
But Aston Martin is not the only team to have tried it. For months, the possibility of Ferrari: “We all tried to convince him. Lawrence, his vision, the future, Honda… were key factors for him to join us.”
Newey will start work in March 2025, so it seems out of the question that he will be able to “touch” any part of this car. It will focus on the new 2026 regulations.
“2026 will be the first car in which he will have a hand and influence. “I don’t think I can influence it before, I would like to say yes but no,” explains the veteran Formula 1 driver.
“I don’t think we should spend a lot of time on the 2025 car, “unless we fight for the championship,” Fernando said.
