The feminist activist Blanca Estrella Ruizpresident of the Clara Campoamor Association for over four decadesdied this Thursday, as announced by the Equality MP for Biscay, Teresa Laespadaon Cadena Ser Euskadi, as part of the program Hoy por Hoy Bilbao-Bizkaia on Radio Bilbao.
“I want to pay tribute to a person who passed away today, whose name was Blanca Estrella Ruiz. She was a wonderful woman, president of the Clara Campoamor Foundation, one of the pioneers in the fight against violence against women,” said the deputy, who highlighted the “crucial role” of Blanca Estrella in the defense of women’s rights and “his tireless fight for equality, even against everything.”
Laespada said that he “double hit today”referring to both Ruiz’s death and Murder of a woman in Bilbaowhich was allegedly committed by her partner. “We learned a lot from her and her loss leaves us with a big void. But his legacy and his fight will continue with us,” he added, referring to Blanca Estrella Ruiz.
“Blanca was one of the pioneers “put all the stones in the way, showing that violence against women has no place and should have no place in a society like ours,” the MP stressed.
On the other hand, through social networks, the Barakaldo City Council deplored the death of Blanca Estrella Ruiz, “a pro-Barakaldo and a reference in the fight for equality and women’s rights,” as it highlighted.
The municipality’s Popular Party also mourned her death, remembering her as a “tireless fighter for women’s rights.”
