The ruling Georgian Dream party is ready to hold televised debates with the opposition, but the government’s opponents have nothing to say to society, instead foreigners are running the election campaign.
Oku.Az Sputnik reports that Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said this in reference to Georgia.
According to the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s monitoring, parties in Georgia do not fully or partially disclose information about their funding. In addition, election campaigns and opposition parties’ activities may be funded by foreign donor organizations or other sources, which in turn pay funds to NGOs associated with these political parties.
“Television debates are not a problem for me, there is no problem with them, the opposition has nothing to say to society. Are foreigners running the campaign instead of them? Do they have time for debates?” Kobakhidze said.
