The US President added during a telephone interview with the American NBC network: “We send weapons to NATO, and they completely pay their price … And the Alliance will deliver this weapon to Ukraine.”
Trump explained that the United States will send Patriot missiles to NATO and will spread.
He indicated that he had concluded an agreement with NATO on sending weapons to Ukraine through the Alliance, and that the latter would pay for its entire price.
He emphasized that the agreement was reached during the NATO summit in June.
It is unclear whether Trump referred to an idea, recently raised about the possibility that some NATO members buy American weapons on behalf of Ukraine so that the United States should not be the cost.
Reuters previously said that Trump will use his emergency powers to send ammunition to Kyiv in the amount of about $ 300 million.
The American president also stated that he was “disappointed with Russia”, adding: “But let’s see what will happen in the coming weeks … I think that I will make an important statement on this topic on Monday”, without going into details.
The representative of Kremlin Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the supply of weapons to Quief Regime does not correspond to attempts to improve peaceful settlement, but rather contributes to the continuation of hostilities.
