Police ask for cooperation to locate fugitives from Portugal

Police remain on alert as search for five prisoners highly dangerous prisoners who escaped last Saturday from a maximum security prison in Lisbon, Portugal. Footage captured by security cameras shows the daring escape, where the inmates took advantage of a ladder provided from outside to jump over the wall of the prison yard. Two vehicles were waiting outside to begin their escape, less than 200 kilometers from the Spanish border.

The main hypothesis of the authorities is that the fugitives, if they have not left the country by sea, are trying to cross the border to Spain. The National Police has already activated a protocol alert in the seven Spanish provinces that share a border with Portugal, including Pontevedra, where agents monitor key points such as the Tui border post. “They are somewhere, but they are dangerous,” says one local resident.

Between the fugitives There are men serving long sentences for serious crimes. One, known as “El Ruso”, is wanted in Argentina for kidnapping and murder. Another, Fernando Ribeiro, is serving a 34-year sentence for drug trafficking and robbery, while Briton Mark Roscaleer has previously tried to escape from prison.

The escape was discovered four hours later, enough time for the inmates to develop a well-organized escape plan that made it difficult to locate them. At the same time, citizen collaboration has become crucial in tracking down these individuals who are considered very dangerous. Authorities continue to examine the possibility that they crossed by landalthough no options are downloaded, including escaping across the Atlantic.
