Minister Bustinduy admits that governing without PGE in 2024 “represented 600M less for dependency”

The Minister Pablo Bustinduy acknowledged Thursday in the Senate that governing this year 2024 with the budgets extended from last year “has meant at least 600 million euros for dependency policies.” The holder of Social Rights, part of the Sumar quota in the Council of Ministersappeared before the Commission for Comprehensive Policies for Disability, at the request of the Popular Party.

In this meeting, during which Bustinduy was to present the general lines of his ministry, the minister was essentially involved in criticizing the opposition for its lack of will to support the 2025 public accounts.

Because, by arguing that “legitimate political ideologies, which explain voting positions, have tangible consequences”, the minister ended up ridiculing the president, Pedro Sanchez…and his own political party, led by the vice-president Yolanda Diaz.

Was Pedro Sanchez who gave the order, last March, to “resign” even from the presentation of the draft General State Budget to Congress, when he learned of the progress of the elections in Catalonia. He president, Father Aragonèsdissolved the Catalan Parliament while the budgets had decreased, precisely because of the vote against the Comuns, the Catalan confluence of Sumar.

That is to say, there was a series of “tangible consequences”in the words of the minister. Curiously, Bustinduy did not seem to remember why his department had 600 million euros less for the Agency this year. Because the minister “He stressed that it was the responsibility of the parliamentary groups”.

But the reality was different.

Tangible consequences

And now, the spokesman of the Popular Party in the Senate, Alicia GarciaLet us recall that Sánchez says he is ready to “govern with or without the help of the legislative power” and, therefore, “whether or not they have budgets.” But that the real “tangible consequences” of a government without Parliament “are the following: Spaniards pay with worse services for Sanchez’s determination to stay in Moncloa“.

The fact that the Catalan electoral campaign was opening, in which the PSOE was betting its biggest bet, that of bringing Salvador Illa to the Generalitat, in direct competition with Aragonès (ERC) and, finally, the fugitive Carles Puigdemont (Junts), motivated the decision. Sánchez ordered to leave the project in a drawer and to continue governing with the 2023 accounts, already extended since January.

The 2024 Budgets were not presented before September 30, as required by the Constitution, because, firstly, Sanchez had brought forward the general elections to July 23.and the government was not formed until mid-November.

Regardless, in March the president renounced his public accounts, claiming that there was no “atmosphere” for the PGE to be approved in Congress, given that the parliamentary majority that supported it in the investiture demands the participation “always and of all” those who formed it, according to the words of a member of the Government.

And in the most decisive regional election campaign since the beginning of the processThe government did not have a positive outlook. Bustinduy now insists on the need to have budgets for next year, or an identical or even greater loss would be repeated for your ministryAnd he urged the groups to support the deficit path, approved last Tuesday in the Council of Ministers, and then the accounts presented by the coalition government.
