Another 170 buses will be on the Baku route lines

Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency (AYNA) under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport will increase the number of buses on the routes to improve passenger transportation facilities due to the start of the academic season.

Oku.Az reports that the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency has published information on this matter.

According to the information, in September 2022, 1,780 buses were in operation in Baku, and in 2023 this number will increase to 2,011. In the same period this year, 170 more buses will be on the road. This number will increase to 2,341 with the purchase of 160 new electric buses and their delivery to the city of Baku. The goal is to increase the number of buses serving passengers to 2,500.

In addition, in the city of Sumgayit and the Absheron region, 75 more buses were involved in passenger transportation compared to September 2023. If in the summer months 370-390 buses ran on the routes of the city of Sumgayit and the Absheron region, during the academic season the number of buses increased to 486.

The process of attracting additional buses to the lines on several routes continues. This is the next step in the direction of increasing the accessibility of the population to public transport, raising the level of service, making passenger transport more comfortable and faster, and eliminating congestion.
